The school day will proceed as normal. Be reminded that today is a 60% day for students. Parents may pick up report cards between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. in Humphreys County and Yazoo City. However, the report card pick up time for Yazoo City High School and Larry Summers CTE is 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. due to the basketball game with Canton today.

District leaders are monitoring the weather for Friday morning. The forecast predicts a level 3 out of 5 severe storm risk, with 5 being the highest on the scale. Damaging high wind, hail, and tornadoes are possible between 6 a.m. and noon tomorrow. We will update parents in the morning by 5:30 a.m. regarding the start time for school in the morning.

This morning, we confirmed that we have water at McCoy. All students are expected to attend school today. Join me in thanking our Mayor and the Public Service Commission of Yazoo City for working around the clock to resolve this issue. Fortunately, the city worked on the waterline today and returned to the property this evening around 8:00 p.m. to turn on the water to test the fix. Thankfully, we currently have water in the school. We will check the school again later this evening and early in the morning. You will receive another message by 6:15 a.m. in the morning to confirm we will open the school for students. We apologize for the inconvenience, and we thank you for your patience, support and cooperation.

The city worked diligently into the night to have water for us at McCoy. However, we discovered more problems this morning. Because there is no water at McCoy, McCoy students will not report to school today. Woolfolk Middle and Yazoo City High students will attend school today. McCoy teachers will report to work as expected.

Starting Monday, July 10, 2023, the Online Student Registration will be open. You will have to go to your child's school to receive the registration code. Registration can also be completed at the school, if necessary. The schools will have the option to adjust times.

It has been reported that an individual who was detained by local police in Belzoni has escaped and is still at large. In an effort to secure the safety of our students, schools are currently on lockdown. We will not release students until we have information from local authorities that it is safe to do so.
