Educator Rising

Larry Summers CTC Educators Rising members Destiney Patterson, Madison Croft, and Carmello Hollins participated in the Educators Rising State Conference and Competitions February 22-23, 2024, at Mississippi College in Clinton, MS. Members competed against Mississippi Educators Rising chapters across the state. Destiney and Madison were able to score a third place win in the Interactive Bulletin Board category. Students will travel to Washington, DC to attend the National Educators Rising Conference June 27-July 2, 2024. Also pictured above is Ms. Hattie Taylor, LSCTC Educators Rising Teacher Leader.

LSCTC HOSAHOSA

Congratulations to the winner of HOSA State Competitions. Placing 3rd place in Physical Therapy: Khloe Moore; 4th place in Mental Health Promotion: Camryn Morris and Kemora Butler; 5th place in Nursing Assistant: Kailey Ingram. These students qualify to attend the International Leadership Conference in Houston, TX June 26-29th.

Eleven students participated in the various competitions and four were courtesy corp. Congratulations to each of you for your dedication and participation!

LSCTC SkillsUSASkillsUSA

In an impressive display of skill and determination, students from Larry Summers Career and Technical Center made their mark at the 2024 SkillsUSA State Championship Leadership and Skilled Events, held at the Jackson Convention Center and Mississippi Coliseum. The competition, which brought together students from across the state, saw our students clinch top honors in various categories.

Anthony Isidro, a student in Mr. O’Banner's Construction Core/Carpentry class, emerged victorious with a 1st place win in Masonry. His dedication and expertise were evident as he outshone competitors in his field.

Terry Shelby, Jamari Weekly, and Angel McCullum, students in Mr. Gibbs' Law and Public Safety class, showcased their talents and secured 1st place in Criminal Justice, Firefighting, and an impressive 2nd place in Prepared Speech, respectively. Their outstanding performances highlighted their commitment to excellence and the rigorous training provided by their instructor.

In addition to our winners, Yazoo City had several other students who participated in various events, demonstrating their skills and representing our school with pride.

Anthony, Jamari, and Terry will have the opportunity to compete at the SkillsUSA National Competition in Atlanta, GA. Their journey to the national stage is a testament to their hard work and dedication, as well as the support and guidance provided by their teachers.

Congratulations to all participants for their remarkable achievements at the SkillsUSA State Championship. The Yazoo City community celebrates their success and looks forward to cheering them on as they continue to excel on their journey.
